Do more or do less

In today’s Sunday Times there is an article ‘There’s more to life’ by John-Paul Flintoff which broadly touches on the notion of attained wealth & happiness not through the size of your bank account but by the experiences you have in life. He references Adele’s recent choice to not perform at major events and wanting to spend more time with friends or lose sight of the things she enjoys. The cynic in me believes it’s more to do with her fear of large crowds but I’ll roll with it on this occasion. Now I’m all for this type of thinking, ensuring you enough the smaller things in life is essential but there are definitely two schools of thought at play in the media.

The second thought is that things aren’t that bad after all, that we should all start a business, generate wealth and prosperity but as far as I can tell this requires risk taking, hard work, limited leisure time and a strict focus. So which is it Mr. Cameron?

Relaxation and enjoying life or working hard to get our economy out of the mess it’s in?

I vote for the hard work route, learning from others and implementing insight into your work, reading books and presentations on the changes your industry is going through and making bold moves will bring a wealth of success both tangible and otherwise.

Success breads happiness in whatever form you take it.
